Sharing access between projects
This guide outlines the steps to grant access to the dataset e-satisfaction creates for you in our Data Warehouse / BigQuery project. It covers the action items for both parties — e-satisfaction and you, the client — so the integration goes smoothly.
Two sides to set up
Sharing access is a two-way exchange: e-satisfaction creates and shares the dataset, and you provide a service account and confirm access. Each step below is labelled with who does it.
Step 1: Initial setup
e-satisfaction:
Create the dataset
A dedicated dataset is created in the BigQuery project, in the appropriate location (region) for you.
Grant permissions to the client
Using your BigQuery service account email, e-satisfaction grants the right role on the dataset through Google Cloud IAM:
- BigQuery Data Viewer — for read-only access.
- BigQuery Data Editor — if write permissions are required.
Step 2: Configure the access
Client (you): to grant access to the dataset, provide e-satisfaction with:
- A BigQuery service account email.
- Confirmation of your access requirements — read-only or write access.
e-satisfaction: then verifies and shares the details:
Verify access
Confirm the permissions granted let your service account reach the dataset as intended.
Share dataset details
Provide you with the project ID and the dataset name and location (region).
Validate access
Test that your account can query or interact with the dataset as required, and confirm functionality with you.
Client (you): finally, confirm and start using it:
- Confirm access — use the provided project ID and dataset details to check access is working as expected.
- Set up data usage — use your service-account credentials to query or interact with the dataset.
When to contact e-satisfaction
Reach out if access validation fails, or if you hit any issues querying or interacting with the dataset.
Step 3: Ongoing maintenance
e-satisfaction keeps things healthy over time:
- Review permissions periodically — review and update your permissions as needed.
- Provide support — help resolve access or data-related issues.
